This campground used to be called Big Pine and LBL Big Pine. Our GPS found it at Big Pine. The daughter bought it from Mom 3 years ago and re-named it for some reason?? It is a Passport America site so I paid 12.50 plus tax. This is a rather primitive campground with gravel roads and sites. Most sites have 30 amp service but supposedly there are some with 50 amp. The entrance is rather tricky for big rigs. I have a 40 foot MH with toad. I was able to negotiate a few sharp curves OK. I would guess the longest pull through is about 55 ft. We were allowed to leave our toad blocking a trail as they were not expecting anyone to need a spot near us. Peak season is in hunting season as they are not on a lake or have a pool. The office has a few RV oriented supplies and goodies. There is a family restaurant within walking distance that appears to have a good draw. Advertisements indicate kids games but you better bring your own team. We were only the second tenant this evening. Location is near the highway which may bother some but isn't that rather par for the course? Look at LBL Big Pines for older reviews.

This place has perhaps 5 cabins and perhaps 25 sites in what looks to be a years ago farmstead. A few of the sites have shade from very mature cottonwood trees. Sites are quite close together. However, when we stopped, we were the only one in the campgrounds so was no problem. Enough room to put out slides on both sides. Adequate gravel driveways and grass sites that are well mowed. Antique tractor and threshing machine and other old machinery on the grounds. Enter the campground at the old tractor and walk up to the house to register. Located in a scenic area along beaver creek.

This is a beautiful campground in a poor location. It is at the intersection of highway 12 and the main bridge over the river. Trucks use their Jake brakes to stop at the intersection. It is set in an industrial area at least 2 miles from any services such as groceries or dining. Do not come here without a toad. The Highway department has a facility next door that starts their trucks at 5AM! If it were not for the location I would rate it a 10. I was rather put out in checking in as they had assigned the location at the time of my reservation to someone else. Assigned me a place four back from the water. Really, only four sites have a decent view of the water.

This is OK for an overnight stay. It is not a resort. Adequate gravel roads and sites. Each with a picnic table. Each site rather spacious perhaps 50X50. No side by side. It sits above and about a block away from I94 but the noise is not objectionable. There is a very nice supper club (Sabir's) about 2 blocks away. There were only 2 sites available. Most of them inhabited by what looks to be semi-permanent construction workers' trailers. Not objectionable. No showers or restrooms so your rig must be self contained. I suppose you could go to the adjacent Motel to find a restroom. Perhaps there will be shade in 20 years as there are trees about 4 feet tall by each site.

Rate includes Passport discount. This park is on the edge of the woods. Some old pine trees around a couple of ponds. Supposedly stocked with fish? No Cable TV but good access to Antenna stations. Verizon internet access was marginal. Sometimes it wanted to connect roaming. Supposedly access to wireless at clubhouse which closes at 9PM. Grass is thin. Typical sandy ground grass attempt. Each unit had light on power pole. Most of them worked. Bathrooms need updating but were clean. Smooth gravel entry but exit had a few wild spots to keep you on your toes.

Activities limited to a walk on the boardwalk to the river. It was interesting to see the swamp flora on the way. Roomy sites. Sewer is extra, 33ft is extra, 50 amp extra. Clubhouse closes at 4PM! Office closes at sundown. NO lights at night. About 6 channels of snow on "cable" TV. Very low water pressure. Sign in shower room "do not remove shower head. It will only reduce pressure for others". Old wooden bench in shower stall.

Rate includes Good Sam discount. Were given 2 coupons for Breakfast Buffet. This makes the first night essentially free. Free shuttle to the Ameristar Casino. Took about 20 minutes wait. No lines at the Buffet at 7:30 AM. Beautiful concrete pads surrounded by GREEN kentucky blue grass sod. Picnic table on adjacent concrete pad. Great Cable TV selection. Wireless and Verizon connectivity for internet. Park was well lit. Lounge area open all night. Coffee available in the Lounge. Didn't check out the pool- only 50 degrees upon arrival - 32 when checking out.

This is a tired campground. It has a nice location next to a nearly dry creek. The grass is almost completely worn off. It rained and so we contended with muddy site. Granted there is lots of shade but if they would fertilize they could have a nice lawn. The bathrooms are very tired. The plywood dividers are white with a pea green sponge effect that looks like it could hide lots of germs. The showers were not clean. One rusty folding chair for two shower stalls. No privacy outside of the shower. They are not into present day economics. At $38 they should accept a credit card. Expect to pay 2.50 per day per air conditioner additional. Unfortunately it seems they do not have much competition in the area.

The only thing keeping this from rating a 10 is the lack of TV. Grass is full and well kept. Pads are well graveled. Full Hookups. Passport America rate is great. Yes, there is some construction on one side but they can't help that. Very friendly grounds keeper.

I had planned to stay at the Prince William Travel Trailer Village nearby but my sister wanted WiFi in the unit to transact some business matters. Since this campground advertized availability of WiFi we called and they assured us we would get it in our unit on our site. Fees about twice as much. As soon as we were parked in the site we tried. No Go on 3 different units. Even with directional antennae. We were courteously escorted to a different site nearby the office. No Better!! When we presented our case to the owner, he discourteously pointed out that others farther away could get connected. So therefore it could not be his system. With my directional antenna I can pick up the weakest signals. Anyway, he did not like criticism of his system so we were told to leave the campground. We went to the Prince William campground and found nicer accommodations and friendly staff at little more than half the cost.

We thought the rate was very high for just water and electric. We chose this site because of the advertising (and we verified by phone) availability of WIFI at the sites. Any campground that charges these rates and especially a KOA must have decent accommodations to be acceptable. It seemed the management had a don't care attitude. Seems people flock there anyway. No pool this time of year. Activities??? We just stayed over night. Should have found a Wal-Mart.

Rate was 22 with Good Sam Discount. Park was about 1/2 full. We were given a beautiful back-in spot at the far end of the park next to a pool with a fountain spraying water. The neighbor's Pea Fowl roam the grass keeping the insect population under control. We have stayed in perhaps 20 campgrounds this winter from Florida to California and this rates right next to the best. Even though we rarely use one, a spa or pool would make this a 10. Note: the FREE wifi reaches the inside of the coach at the far end of the park.

This is by far the worst camping experience for the winter travel from Florida to California. First off, the WIFI only works in the clubroom. The only TV available is on a TV in the clubroom. The lighting in the park is so poor you cannot safely find your way from the RV to the clubhouse. The restrooms/showers are accessed from the clubhouse that is locked from about 9:30PM to about 8:00AM which makes impossible to shower in the evening or in the morning!! We will NEVER consider this place - worse than dry camping in Wal-mart.

This older park has converted to all being completely filled with older rigs on individually owned lots. We arrived mid-November and were told there was nothing available as were all individually owned. Do not plan on using this park.

Concrete Sites. All drive through. No shade, no shrubery or landscaping. WIFI is off and on. Don't rely on it. Must leave $5 to get key to bathroom. Then you have to wait till 9 am to get the deposit back. Some noise from the freeway about a block away. Clubhouse is the living room of a trailer house. 4 bathrooms with showers. OK for overnight. Passport for one night only.
